Alfred Pennyworth led a varied life, first as a soldier in the Special Air Service, then as a prominent, albeit short-lived theater actor, later taking the position of the butler of Wayne Manor for Thomas & Martha Wayne. Alfred later in life ended up becoming the legal guardian of their child Bruce when they were murdered by mugger, and eventually one of Bruce biggest allies when he decided to fight the criminals of Gotham. Despite his reservations of his employers war on crime, he remains Bruce Wayne most trusted ally and friend.
