In the comics, Cassandra is the daughter of assassins, David Cain and Lady Shiva. The reason she doesn't speak is because her father deprived her of talking and instead, wanted her to be the ultimate weapon, focus on martial arts and Cassandra got trained by the League Of Assassins. Then when she came to Gotham at 17, she started to realize that her father's methods were wrong and saved Gordon from Cain. After seeing her heroic act, Batman took her in and gave her the mantle of Batgirl. That's what I need and want for Cassandra. I still need her to quiet and read body language from people like in the comics, but also be very versatile in fighting.
