Duke Thomas was the founder of the We Are Robin movement, leading many teenagers in home-made Robin suits to assist Batman in fighting crime. Batman kept trying to get them to stop but they didn’t. Eventually Joker kidnapped Duke and his parents, he was going to recreate the moment that Bruce Wayne’s parents died but was stopped by Batman. In an escape attempt, Joker released a gas bomb causing Duke’s parents to become permanently insane. Batman then takes him in and adopts him like he did other Robins, but instead of becoming Robin, he becomes Signal, Gothams daytime protector. Duke is one of the few members that has actual powers, to bend light
