The story follows Nancy Archer, a wealthy but unhappy woman stuck in a loveless marriage with her unfaithful husband, Harry Archer, and ridiculed by the small town of Desert Springs. One night, after a strange encounter with a glowing, alien spacecraft in the desert, Nancy begins to experience bizarre physical changes. Nancy soon discovers that she is growing at an alarming rate, eventually reaching fifty feet tall. With her newfound size comes extraordinary strength, but also a growing rage toward those who have wronged her, especially her husband. At first, Nancy is horrified by her transformation and hides in a remote area, but she soon embraces her power, returning to town to exact revenge on Harry and the small-minded locals who mistreated her. Meanwhile, the government sends the mysterious Dr. Gallup and a team of military scientists to capture and study Nancy, believing her transformation is linked to an alien invasion. As Nancy grows both in size and fury, the town becomes a battleground between her, the military, and a looming extraterrestrial threat.
