Peter Parker has since struggled to deal with his grief after Gwen's death, taking his anger out on petty crooks around the city. Although, he comes across a mysterious black substance, which he discovers was engineered by Oscorp. It also enhances Peter's already grim emotions to new levels, causing him to distance himself from his loved ones, including a girl named Mary Jane Watson who has the potential to help him heal.
