Mason Thames (/θeɪmz/, born July 10, 2007) is a rising young actor who made a remarkable debut as the young teen lead in director/co-writer/producer Scott Derrickson’s hit horror movie, The Black Phone (2021), based on Joe Hill’s short story, co-starring Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, James Ransone and Ethan Hawke, and returning a spectacular gross of over $161 million (ten times costs) for Blumhouse Productions/Universal Pictures. Thames had his second starring role in his second theatrical feature with the David Henrie-directed adventure horror movie, Monster Summer (2024), co-starring Mel Gibson, Lorraine Bracco, Nora Zehetner, and Kevin James, and released wide by Pastime Pictures. Thames landed his biggest starring role to date as Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III in director/writer/producer Dean DeBlois’ live-action adaptation of his original animated feature, How To Train Your Dragon (2025)—which itself was based on Cressida Cowell’s book series—co-starring Nico Parker, Gerard Butler, Nick Frost, Bronwyn James and Harry Trevaldwyn and released by Universal Pictures. Thames co-starred with McKenna Grace, Allison Williams, and Dave Franco in the Josh Boone-directed screen version of Colleen Hoover’s novel, Regretting You (2025), produced by Constantin Film and released by Paramount Pictures. Thames reunited with co-star McKenna Grace in director/writer Lee Kirk’s road comedy, New Year’s Rev (date to be announced), with Jenna Fischer, Sean Gunn, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee, Jolene Blalock, Angela Kinsey, Keen Ruffalo, Ignacio Diaz-Silverio, Buffy Milner, and Billie Joe Armstrong, and produced by Live Nation Productions. The next day, Adrian catches her; she’s heartbroken. He admits he isn’t proud but needs the money.Liz goes to Peter’s house crying. May lets her into his room, where Liz finds a battered Spider-Man suit. Peter climbs in, fully suited, and Liz tells him her father is Vulture and someone above him is controlling him. The next day, Adrian pleads with The Gentleman to leave the job, but is told to bring Spider-Man. Adrian calls Liz to say he loves her. She begs Peter to bring him back and kisses him.Spider-Man confronts Vulture atop the Empire State Building, only to fall into a trap. He fights villains one by one. The Gentleman shoots Vulture to erase witnesses, framing Spider-Man. Dying in Peter’s hands, Adrian asks him to protect Liz. Captain Stacy arrives, believing Spider-Man is guilty. Peter escapes and tells Liz the truth, shattering her world.
