James Paul Marsden (born September 18, 1973) is an American actor. He began his acting career by guest-starring on the television shows Saved by the Bell: The New Class (1993), Touched by an Angel (1995), and Party of Five (1995). Marsden gained fame for his portrayal of Cyclops in the X-Men film series from 2000 to 2014, and for his roles in the films The Notebook (2004), Superman Returns (2006), Hairspray (2007), Enchanted (2007), 27 Dresses (2008), and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013). He portrayed John F. Kennedy in the drama film The Butler (2013) and Tom Wachowski in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series (2020–present). Marsden starred in the science fiction series Westworld from 2016 to 2022 and in the black comedy series Dead to Me from 2019 to 2022, for which he received a nomination for a Critics' Choice Television Award. He played guest roles in the Modern Family (2011) and 30 Rock (2012–2013) sitcoms. He starred as a fictionalised version of himself in the mockumentary series Jury Duty (2023), for which he received nominations for a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award. It is Christmas break when Liz Allan receives a job offer outside of New York. She and Peter talk it through, and although it’s difficult, Peter encourages her to take it because he wants what’s best for her. Throughout the season, they struggle to balance their relationship with their personal lives and ambitions.At the same time, Yuri Watanabe and Frank Castle investigate a criminal known as the Gentleman, only to find him dead in the snow with a rose placed on his body. They open a new case called The Rose. Soon after, members of the Fortunato crime family begin turning up dead. Detective Jean DeWolff investigates with Spider-Man’s secret help, unknown to Yuri. During the case, Jean introduces Spider-Man to Daredevil, who is involved due to the murders’ connection to Wilson Fisk. Evidence suggests Fisk is eliminating his competition.As Jean gets closer to the truth, the Rose sends Sin-Eater to silence her, and she is murdered. Yuri vows revenge, becoming Wraith. Peter blames himself and believes Spider-Man must fix this alone. Spider-Man and Daredevil confront the Rose, discovering he is Richard Fisk, working for his father. Richard reveals Sin-Eater is the real killer, but it’s too late—Wraith kills Sin-Eater, crossing a line that cannot be undone.
