Of all the Anthros Northern and Western Railroad (ANWRR) engines based in Nashville, Pete is a big strong engine designated for pulling long freight trains between Nashville and Roanoke. Pete considers himself more important than Farnsworth and Frederick - for him, freight feels more fulfilling than people and... heaven forbid, switching in the yards. Leave it to Tillie and Doc to remind him people are as important as freight.
