Jack Monroe is a fiercely idealistic but intensely troubled American soldier who volunteered for the frontline when the war broke out, only to be sidelined by severe combat trauma early in the European theater. When the SSR captures a Tesseract-powered energy matrix early in the war following Peggy's successful assassination of Hydra's leadership, Howard Stark builds a massive, experimental suit of mechanized armor to weaponize it. Because the suit requires a human pilot whose nervous system can handle a volatile, direct interface with the experimental machinery, Monroe volunteers. He becomes the pilot of the Hydra Stomper. Unlike a traditional pilot, Jack feels the literal weight of the machine; the armor interfaces directly with his mind, turning his tactical instincts into mechanized devastation.
