After the 15th Doctor regenerates into the 16th Doctor, The Doctor first goes on adventure to find a mermaid in Southampton Docks where she meets Allie Harris. The Doctor introduces herself as Dr. Jayne Smith a marine biologist researching reports of a mermaid. When they find it The 16th Doctor reveals who she really is and asks Allie if she'd like to journey with her. The 16th Doctor uses Jayne Smith on adventures on Earth, as an alias because it's a common name.
