Steve's former mentor in archeology. Steve used to work under him while they were both in the US, but he had to depart when given the opportunity to work in Cairo. He arrives in Cairo on invitation from Dr. Petrie, and later joins Steve's expedition to find the lost tomb of Princess Ananka, but, like Petrie, only for the fame and fortune that would come from such a find. After Kharis attacks the party, he attempts to flee, with some of the uncovered artefacts, but is killed in the attempt by the Mummy.
