Miles Johnson is an old friend of Mikasa and Azusa's father and the co leader of the group until Mikasa and Azusa's father died. At the behest of his late friend's wish, he ensures that Mikasa and Azusa are safe and ensures the group stays safe. When Mariko is brought to the group, he asks her if she can help them find a safer place. When T-600s attack their hideout, He leads his group out and joins Mariko in order to get to safety in John's headquarters. During the Climax, he's fatally shot and before he sacrifices himself to cripple the Harvester, he tells Mariko to promise him to now take care of Mikasa and Azusa, which Mariko promise. Miles dies as he crashes the bus into the Harvester.
