a tragic ballet following Prince Siegfried, who falls in love with Princess Odette, a woman cursed by the sorcerer Von Rothbart to be a swan by day and human by night. Only a vow of eternal love can break the spell. Tricked into pledging love to Odile (the Black Swan), Siegfried causes Odette to remain a swan forever, resulting in both lovers drowning themselves to break the curse and reunite in the afterlife.
