This is James Gunn's Dcu With what he has revealed I will build off of it and create my own. Building off of the start of his universe. Swamp Thing is an elemental creature who shares a connection to all plant life on the planet Earth through a network called the Green. He is a mass of vegetable matter that absorbed the memories and personality of Alec Holland. Holland is eventually hunted down by the Sunderland Corporation, who seek to find the secrets to his research, and kill him in a hail of bullets. During the autopsy by woodrue realizes that Swamp Thing isn't a transformed Alec Holland, but instead merely a creature that thinks that it's Alec Holland. He suspects that when he was exposed to the Bio-Restorative formula and came into contact with the swamp when he died that it produced a plant matter copy of him that held many of his memories. Sunderland disregards these and other findings. Woodrue realizes that Swamp Thing isn't dead and will simply regenerate, so he escapes the premises while leaving his findings for the monster to see. Having always thought that he was truly Alec Holland and hoping to find a way to return to his human life, Swamp Thing goes on a rampage that eventually results in Sunderland's death. Using Swamp Thing's samples of his body to connect to the mystical Green force. He later becomes corrupted with his experiences with "the green" and sets out to destroy all human life by increasing the oxygen in the atmosphere but is stopped by Swamp Thing
