Blackfire was ambitious and thought she could keep her people safe while taking power, so she sold out her family (particularly her sister) to Apokolips in exchange for Tammeran being spared, but Heggra went back on their deal throwing her into the foundry and locking away her powers through various torture methods. Blackfire finds Superman frustrating with his selflessness as it reminds her of Starfire, her sister.
