Plot: The population of Earth is slowly turning against Superman from propaganda being distributed by General Sam Lane who is also using his influence in the military to hinder Superman’s ability to help and save people. This all comes to a head when a rogue Kryptonian named Zod tries to recruit Superman into his army. Superman is told by Zod to abandon Earth and its people because they are weak and useless. This brings an inner conflict within Superman who sees his hometown of Smallville greets him with open arms and his home city of Metropolis rejecting him. Lois convinces Superman that it doesn’t matter what her father says and that Earth is his home now. The army has been developing anti-Kryptonian weapons to take out Superman. Superman convinces them to instead use the weapons on Zod and his followers in order to incapacitate them. Superman then uses a piece of Kryptonian technology to summon the Phantom Zone in order to imprison Zod and his followers there. Humanity as a result of this now supports him but General Lane is still lobbying to have Superman killed.
