For many years, Superman had thought that he was the last Kryptonian. However, while on a space expedition, he discovers a badly injured young woman from Krypton who's later revealed to be his cousin Kara Zor El, whom he quickly brings with him to Earth for her to properly heal.
Soon, it becomes clear that she was followed by three Kryptonian criminals who’ve just escaped from the Phantom Zone, led by General Zod, a fellow survivor of the destruction of Krypton who’s now seeking to turn Earth into the new Krypton, with only Superman and Supergirl standing in his way.
