Glen Thomas Powell Jr. (born October 21, 1988) is an American actor. He began his career with minor roles on television and in films such as Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003) and Fast Food Nation (2006). Powell acted in the action film The Expendables 3 (2014), the comedy-horror series Scream Queens (2015–2016), the teen comedy Everybody Wants Some!! (2016), the historical romance The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018), and the romantic comedy Set It Up (2018). He also portrayed astronaut John Glenn in Hidden Figures (2016) and aviator Tom Hudner in Devotion (2022). Powell became famous for starring in the action film Top Gun: Maverick (2022) and the romantic comedy Anyone but You (2023). He has since starred in the dark comedy Hit Man(2023), which he also co-wrote and produced, and in the disaster film Twisters (2024). Superman Begins is a 2025 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Superman. Produced by Legendary Pictures, The Stone Quarry, and DC Films, it is the fourth installment in the DC Legacy Universe. Directed by Jon Favreau from a screenplay by Zack Snyder, Jerry Bruckheimer, and David S. Goyer, the film stars Glen Powell as Kal-El alongside Bridget Moynahan, Bruce Greenwood, Liv Tyler, Dolph Lundgren, Anthony Mackie, Ethan Hawke, and Hugh Jackman. Set in 2022, Clark Kent meets his biological father for the first time while coming into conflict with the evil Bizarro. Superman Begins opened in theaters on December 18th, 2024; it was a financial success, grossing over $913 million worldwide. Critics praised the film's direction, writing, tone, action sequences, performances (particularly Powell and Jackman), and special effects but criticized the generic story and lack of humor.
