David Packard Corenswet (/ˈkɔːrənswɛt/CORE-in-SWET; born July 8, 1993) is an American actor. After graduating from Juilliard in 2016, he began guest-starring in television series, including House of Cards in 2018. He played lead roles in the Netflix series The Politician (2019–2020) and Hollywood (2020), both created by Ryan Murphy. In 2022, he starred in the films Look Both Ways and Pearl, as well as the HBO miniseries We Own This City. After supporting roles in the film Twisters and the miniseries Lady in the Lake (both 2024), he rose to prominence with his portrayal of the titular superhero in James Gunn's DC Universe film Superman (2025). In "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse," a spaceship crash-lands in Gotham, revealing Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, who possesses Kryptonian powers. After some initial chaos and misunderstanding, Batman subdues her with Kryptonite. Superman discovers her identity and takes her to Themyscira for training with Wonder Woman. Later, Kara is kidnapped by Darkseid and taken to Apokolips, where she's brainwashed into becoming one of his Furies. Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman travel to Apokolips to rescue her. A battle ensues, with Superman eventually defeating Darkseid by using a Boom Tube to send him into the void. Kara embraces her new role as Supergirl and decides to fight for good. Discovery of Kara: Batman investigates a spaceship crash and discovers Kara, who is initially confused and dangerous due to her powers. Batman subdues Kara with Kryptonite, leading to her being taken to the Batcave and then Themyscira. Kidnapping and Brainwashing: Darkseid captures Kara, brainwashes her, and turns her into one of his Furies. Apokolips Rescue Mission: Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman travel to Apokolips to save Kara. A major battle occurs on Apokolips, culminating in Superman defeating Darkseid by sending him through a Boom Tube. Kara accepts her role as Supergirl and decides to use her powers for good.
