(First appeared in Marvel Spotlight #5 in 1972 and was created by Gary Friedrich and Mike Ploog). Johnny Blaze was a stuntman who summoned the demon Mephisto in hopes of preventing his adoptive father Crash Simpson from dying in a motorcycle accident. However, Crash was greatly injured and Mephisto cursed Johnny and bonded him to his former rival and fellow demon Zarathos, turning him into the Ghost Rider.
