(First appeared in Werewolf by Night #32 and was created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin). Marc Spector is a former United States Marine and C.I.A. agent turned mercenary, who worked in Egypt for Raoul Bushman, who looted and massacred local populations. After Marc tried to stop Bushman from killing a woman named Marlene Alraune, Bushman stabbed him and left him for dead. Marc was able to survive until coming upon the statue of an Egyptian moon god named Khonshu. Marc died, but was revived by Khonshu and decided to become the vigilante Moon Knight. He also developed two other personalities: millionaire Steven Grant and taxi driver Jake Lockley.
