Despite an initial difficulty, today Kara is actually embedded in the world of Earth, alongside her now older cousin, Superman, and her other allies, acting as a protector of justice. She is even recognized by the people of Metropolis, but still not exactly in the way she would like. However, when Clark must temporarily withdraw from the city, believing Kara will handle everything just fine, Supergirl is given the chance to show Metropolis that she, too, wants to build her own legacy of heroism. Another spin-off of the Superman franchise in this universe, 'Supergirl' was idealized after the good reception of the character in 'World's Finest', being framed in the original schedule of Phase 5 along with other projects.
