Donkey Kong's home was attacked, Cranky Kong gone and Diddy Kong taken. He didn't hear of Mario and Sonic's alliance until after he met up with them. He reluctantly joined Mario so he could get his friend back and get revenge on his father's apparent demise. Now DK is the first powerhouse to join the Fellowship of Smash. During the movie, DK gets to know Mario better and actually starts a friendship between him and the plumber. DK was one of the three who voted AGAINST Bowser joining them.
