During a visit to the peaceful Forest of Illusion, Yoshi meets Birdo, a kind and graceful pink dinosaur with a mouth full of eggs-travagant beauty and warmth. She loves music, flowers, and fruit. Yoshi is instantly smitten, he can barely speak and turns bright red whenever she’s around. Mario and the whole gang try to help Yoshi impress her by being his naive innocent self. Deep down, Yoshi feels he shouldn’t and that he should pretend to be someone cool, enchanting, and not clumsy or idiotic. But that all fails tremendously, before he walks away a sad failed dinosaur, Birdo gets kidnapped by Kootie-Pie who finds jealousy in that pretty pink dino and declares that if she can’t be the “cutest girl in Dome City,” no one can! So Yoshi has to come to her rescue by being who he really is!
