It's Halloween in Dome City, and Princess Toadstool is throwing the first-ever Cave Trick-or-Treat Parade. Mario and Luigi help decorate, while Yoshi is excited to dress as a vampire while getting lots of treats. But when the Boo Moon rises (a rare full moon that glows green), creepy things start happening… Cave people begin vanishing, candy turns to bugs, the city gets covered in darkness, and ghosts start circling. Turns out King Koopa and his bratty twins, Hip and Hop, have summoned an evil spirit called Big Boo, a towering, round ghost who haunts Dome City. Big Boo's power grows with every frightened scream. Soon, he’s floating over Dome City, turning everyone into ghostly shadows!
