Cranky Kong’s role plays an important role in the story. Halfway to the Jungle Kingdom, he's revealed to be the giant ape that was beaten by Jumpman, and exiled out of New Donk City. He's hated humans ever since and anyone who looks like Jumpman, will be beaten to death by his son Donkey Kong, the future king of DK Isle.
