When Bowser, the king of the Koopas, discovers a powerful gem that can destroy and rebuild civilization, he decides to kidnap Princess Peach (yet again) to lure Mario in to finish him off. But, when the gem starts to overreact, it takes control of Bowser and causes mass destruction to his castle, Mario, and Peach by accident.
