The white residents of Summerset, although apparently cordial at first slowly begin to show an unspoken animosity towards them and other black residents. The only person who appears to be supportive is reverend Francis Lennux. Secretly however, Lennux is the leader of a white surpremasist group who seeks to drive the black residents out of town.
