Amanda Waller gets word of a shadowy terrorist group operating out in the Middle East, headed by the immortal super-villain Vandal Savage. Knowing normal military troops will be unable to take out Savage, she enlists a group of super-villains from prisons like Belle Reve, Blackgate, and Arkham Asylum to do the job. In doing so, she forms Task Force X, aka the Suicide Squad.
