The story follows Primus, a scavenger raised among space pirates, who survives a mysterious abduction from Earth years earlier. Living as an outlaw in the far reaches of space, Primus steals a powerful alien artifact known as a Mother Box–Weapon of Apokolips, unaware that it is one of Darkseid’s most dangerous creations, capable of erasing entire worlds. The theft draws the attention of Steppenwolf, a ruthless general of Darkseid, who seeks the weapon to complete his master’s long-term conquest of the universe. Primus is soon hunted across the galaxy and captured, where he crosses paths with Kalista, a lethal warrior raised by Darkseid himself but now secretly rebelling against him. Also arrested are Weasel, a genetically engineered weapons expert, and his partner Broot, an ancient plant-based lifeform whose strength and loyalty are unmatched. The group is imprisoned together in a massive interstellar penitentiary, where they encounter Trigorr, a brutal warrior driven by revenge after Steppenwolf slaughtered his family during an Apokoliptian purge. When Steppenwolf’s forces close in, the prisoners are forced into an uneasy alliance, escaping the facility and becoming fugitives together. As they flee, the group learns the true nature of the stolen artifact: it is not just a Mother Box, but a proto-weapon designed to terraform worlds for Apokolips, an early experiment in Darkseid’s plan to dominate reality. Kalista reveals her connection to Darkseid and her desire to prevent the weapon from ever being used. Meanwhile, Trigorr’s obsession with revenge nearly fractures the team when he recklessly challenges Steppenwolf. The artifact is briefly taken to the Auctioneer, a shadowy cosmic broker who traffics in relics of fallen civilizations, but Steppenwolf swiftly seizes it, activating the weapon and setting his sights on a major interstellar world as a demonstration of Darkseid’s power. Choosing to stop running, Primus unites the fractured group, and for the first time they fight not for profit or revenge, but for each other. In a massive space battle, Primus and his allies confront Steppenwolf. Working together, they disrupt the Mother Box’s energy flow. In a desperate final move, Primus channels the weapon’s power through himself, surviving due to his hidden New God lineage. Steppenwolf is defeated, and the Apokoliptian weapon is secured, denying Darkseid a crucial asset. In the aftermath, the group is reluctantly hailed as heroes. Rather than returning to their old lives, Primus, Kalista, Weasel, Broot, and Trigorr choose to stay together, forming an unlikely family, the galaxy’s newest line of defense, The Omega Men.
