Former superhero "The Black Lightning", not simply referred to as Jefferson Pierce has retired to focus more on his marriage and his role as a father. Taking his place is his daughter Jennifer, going by the Alias "Lightning" becoming the new talk of the neighbourhood. The villainous Syonide sees Lightning as a threat and plots to dispose of her. Even if it means Syonide has to target Pierce's family and the boy she secretly pines for.
