Carrie Alexandra Coonย (born January 24, 1981) is an American actress. Known for her portrayals of complex characters on stage and screen, she has received aย Critics' Choice Television Award, as well as nominations for threeย Primetime Emmy Awardsย and aย Tony Award.
On television, her breakout role was as Nora Durst in the drama seriesย The Leftoversย (2014โ2017). Subsequently, she received her first nomination forย Primetime Emmy Awardsย forย Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movieย for her role asย Gloria Burgleย in theย third seasonย of the black comedy crime anthology seriesย Fargoย (2017), her second forย Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Seriesย for playing Bertha Russell in the period drama seriesย The Gilded Ageย (2022โpresent) and her third forย Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Seriesย for her role as Laurie Duffy in theย third seasonย of the satirical dramedy anthology seriesย The White Lotusย (2025).
She made her film debut inย Gone Girlย (2014), with further roles in films such asย The Postย (2017),ย Widowsย (2018),ย The Nestย (2020),ย Boston Strangler (2023), andย His Three Daughtersย (2024). She has also portrayed characters inย blockbusterย films such asย Proxima Midnightย inย Avengers: Infinity War(2018) and Callie Spengler inย Ghostbusters: Afterlifeย (2021) and its sequel,ย Ghostbusters: Frozen Empireย (2024). On stage, Coon made herย Broadwayย debut as the naive wife Honey in the revival ofย Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?ย (2012), for which she was nominated for theย Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play.
