He is best known for writing and directing the filmsΒ WeekendΒ (2011),Β 45 Years (2015),Β Lean on PeteΒ (2017), andΒ All of Us StrangersΒ (2023). He also wrote and directed theΒ HBOΒ seriesΒ LookingΒ (2014β2015) and its film sequelΒ Looking: The MovieΒ (2016), as well as theΒ BBC TwoΒ limited seriesΒ The North WaterΒ (2021).
