Marsha P. Johnson is the beating, brilliant heart of Greenwich Village—a force of pure joy and fierce defiance. At 23, living on the margins as a homeless sex worker, she answers the cruelty of the world with radical love, creative expression, and unyielding resistance. While historical myths falsely claim she threw the very first brick, Marsha's true power shines when she arrives at the burning Stonewall Inn, immediately throwing her body into the front lines to defend her chosen family from police brutality. When outsiders judge her, she offers her legendary middle initial—"Pay It No Mind"—using her vibrant, flower-crowned presence to demand dignity. Beyond a single night of rioting, her maternal spirit fuels the movement as she marches in the first liberation rallies and ultimately co-founds S.T.A.R. to keep unhoused queer youth safe and fed.
