Dr. Frank Kameny is the original architect of the gay rights movement—a brilliant, combative Harvard PhD astronomer turned full-time political warrior. Fired by the government during the Lavender Scare and blacklisted from his scientific career, Frank channeled his fury into establishing the Washington, D.C. Mattachine Society. He is a man who treats activism with the cold, unyielding precision of mathematics. To Frank, the path to liberation requires looking the straight establishment in the eye and demanding "Equal Justice Under Law." He famously coined the slogan "Gay is Good" in 1968 and pioneered the rigid, suit-and-tie White House pickets. When the explosive, unpolished youth energy of Stonewall erupts, Frank faces an existential and generational clash: he must bridge his hyper-organized, formal litigation strategy with the raw, chaotic street power of the new revolution.
