He is a visionary who made terrible compromises—dealing with hackers and experimenting on prisoners—to advance cyberization. His murder at the hands of his own son sets the entire story in motion. He loved the Major like a daughter but failed to see the monster he was creating in Jacob. His death haunts every character.
