Hayden Christensen (born April 19, 1981) is a Canadian actor. He is best known for his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader in the Star Wars media franchise. He first appeared in the prequel trilogy films, Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005), and later reprised his role with a voice cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), and as the main antagonist in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022). He will also reprise his role in the upcoming Disney+ series Ahsoka (2023).\n\nChristensen began his career on Canadian television at the age of 13, then diversified into American television in the late 1990s. His early work includes Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides (1999), Life as a House (2001), and Shattered Glass (2003), to which he earned critical acclaim for his performances as Sam in Life as a House and as Stephen Glass in Shattered Glass. Christensen's honours include the nominations for a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award, as well as the Cannes Film Festival's Trophée Chopard. His other notable works in both blockbuster and independent films include Awake (2007), Jumper (2008), Takers (2010), and Little Italy (2018).

This alternate version of Star Wars: Episode III reimagines the fall of Anakin Skywalker as a slow, emotionally driven tragedy rather than a sudden turn to evil. As the Clone Wars near their end, Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi are celebrated heroes whose close brotherly bond forms the heart of the story. However, Anakin's repeated rejection by the Jedi Council, his growing resentment over never becoming a Jedi Master, and the manipulations of Palpatine gradually isolate him from those he loves. After killing Darth Maul against Obi-Wan's wishes, Anakin is condemned by the Jedi, allowing Palpatine to position himself as the only person who truly believes in him. Meanwhile, General Grievous launches a devastating campaign that culminates in a massive battle on Mustafar, where countless Jedi are sacrificed in combat rather than through Order 66. Believing that Padmé Amidala has died and convinced that Obi-Wan and the Jedi have betrayed him, Anakin fully embraces his anger, leading to a heartbreaking duel with his former master. Obi-Wan defeats him but leaves him behind, mourning the loss of the brother he once knew. At the same time, Yoda discovers Palpatine's true identity but realizes the Sith's victory cannot be overturned immediately, choosing exile and patience instead. Padmé, Obi-Wan, and Owen Lars escape the fallen Republic and secretly decide that Padmé's unborn child must be raised far from politics and the Jedi. As Palpatine is celebrated as the Republic's savior and consolidates his power, Owen returns to Tatooine with the infant Luke Skywalker, ending the story on a bittersweet note that preserves hope for the future while emphasizing the tragic cost of Anakin's downfall.
