Master Darren Shay is the oldest member of the restored Jedi Council and is seen by others as one of the highest authorities of the restored Jedi Order. However, due to his conservative mindset and a certain arrogance, he often finds himself at odds with Dorah Storm and there is a great rivalry between the two. He is also deeply unpopular with the younger Knights of the Jedi. However, after the outbreak of the war, he fully demonstrated his experience and leadership skills, and as a result won the respect of both Dorah Storm and the younger generation of Jedi.
