Vritar infiltrates the Enterprise and poses as one of the Vulcan cadets, who is later found dead. His goal is to assassinate Captain Carver, but he fails. Instead, he kills Security Officer Garner. His motive is that, following the fall of Praetor Tor, he refuses to accept the Romulans’ defeat. However, after his arrest, he is surprised by Captain Carver’s conciliatory attitude, as the captain tries to explain to him the senselessness of further war.
