The mentor to Team Star Fox's current incarnation, as well as Fox's step-dad and one of Chip's fathers. Peppy's regretted his decision to give Chip up for adoption and keep their existence a closely-guarded secret practically every day of his life. He chose to do so in a moment of unyielding grief, and always wondered what became of the child, but was never able to find them no matter what. He'd struggled to find the right time to properly break the news, so it seemed the universe picked a time for him by putting Chip back into his life. Peppy still feels incredibly horrible about all Chip's had to go through because of his decision, and though he and Fox are... Currently on awkward terms because of the whole "secret relationship and lovechild with Fox's dead dad" bit, Peppy's making the best of the situation by making up for lost time with Chip. However, Chip still feels quite bitter towards Peppy for abandoning them all those years ago, and Peppy struggles to truly connect with them. He'd forgotten how difficult teenagers can be, but he's not going to give up on them again.
