Kim Jong Un's grandfather, Kim Il Sung, was designated the "Eternal President of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea" on 5 September 1998, four years after his death, through a constitutional revision that officially removed the living presidency from the structure of the North Korean government to enshrine his grandfather as the eternal head of state, where no living person could ever hold that exact title again of the Korean nation, Kimilsungism became Kimilsungism–Kimjongilism in April 2012. Kim's ongoing purge from 2013 to the present after Jang Song-thaek and Kim Jong-nam are killed where it began with Ri Yong-ho in July 2012 as Kim Jong Un's first purge. On 29 June 2016, North Korea enshrined both Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il as the "Eternal Leaders of Juche Korea" through constitutional revisions, which unified their names into the official guiding and a single doctrine of Kimilsungism–Kimjongilism, cementing the ideological framework of the ruling Kim dynasty under Kim Jong Un's rule. His most frequent foreign destination is Beijing as of today, when Kim took his first-ever known trip abroad to China as leader in early 2018.
