While still continuing the MCU trilogy, Sony decided to reboot the Spider-Man franchise with the subtitle "Street Level". After many director changes and difficulties casting the Web-Slinger, they finally hit the mark with famed The Flash director Andy Muschietti, and newcomer Griffin Gluck. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, who complimented its visual effects, story, with Muschietti's direction. However, it received criticism focusing on its runtime and for being too dark. But most praised the performance of Gluck's portrayal as the Nerdy Superhero.
