The film will feature a flashback where Peter is on a school trip to OsCorp while they have an accident where some genetically modified, gamma-radiated spiders are released. One of them bites him, and that's how he gets his powers. There's also another flashback confirming he was the kid in the Iron Man mask at the Stark Expo in Iron Man 2.
