After a few years since the tragic death of Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) tries to balance his life as Spider-Man and his family responsibilities with Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst), whom he has always loved and who are now married. The couple has a daughter, Mayday Parker, who grows up amid the complexities of her father's life as a superhero. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Toomes (Angelina Jolie), recently released from prison, devises a cunning plan to form a Sinister Six, made up of villains captured by Spider-Man, such as Mystery, Rhino and Scorpion and some new members such as the dangerous Cletus Kasady and Max Dillon. To manipulate Roderick Kingsley into joining the team, Elizabeth reveals Spider-Man's true identity, revealing that he is her own friend Peter, further intensifying the conflict between the two.
