He suffers from a severe form of albinism that makes him milky pale, as well as a deformation of the nasal septum that makes it seem like he doesn't have one; because of all this he lives a turbulent childhood being bullied and mocked by all the other African-American boys in the neighborhood, the only exception being Robbie Robertson who becomes his only friend. As an adult, Lonnie begins a career in crime with Silvio Manfredi, becoming a skilled hitman and building a character for himself by using his albinism to his advantage. Robbie, aware of his childhood friend's criminal activities, exposes him by writing an article in the Daily Bugle newspaper, causing his arrest.
