The plot is similar to the original (it's a 10-point film) but contains a number of changes to make it more in line with the new universe. - More story is presented with Otto regarding his origins as a scientist and his friendship with Norman, and it explains why he and his family couldn't attend the funeral in the first film. - At Otto Octavius's exhibition, the assistant scientist is Hank Pym (just like in the novelization) and he gives details about his research into Ant-Man's Pym particles. - Just after Peter is fired from the pizzeria and days after Otto's exhibition, a secondary villain appears with mysterious technology that gives him the appearance of a rhinoceros. The criminal Alexander O'Hirn attacks the streets with his horns. After a chase down a highway and a battle in a square where several pieces of a building fall on him and civilians are saved by Spider-Man, the Rhino is arrested. - The bank fight against Dock Ock is much longer than in the original film before moving to the streets with May's kidnapping. - The scene where Jameson is wearing the Spider-Man suit has been added. - During Peter's crisis, a mysterious villain known as Puma, who obtained his form through a ritual and was trained in Japan, attacks several businesses with a prominent gang in the city. Spider-Man, with difficulty due to the crisis, manages to stop him and discovers that the man is more than a criminal, he is a mercenary and former head of a Mexican company called Fireheart Enterprises, hired by the NY Crime Lord to rob the businesses. However, he doesn't provide much more information and is arrested by the police. - The train battle is much longer and more epic in this retelling of the plot.
