Amy Lou Adams (born August 20, 1974) is an American actress. Known for both her comedic and dramatic roles, she has been featured three times in annual rankings of the world's highest-paid actresses. She has received various accolades, including two Golden Globe Awards. She has been nominated for six Academy Awards, seven British Academy Film Awards, and two Primetime Emmy Awards. Adams began her career as a dancer in dinner theatre, a pursuit she followed from 1994 to 1998. They made her film debut with a supporting part in the dark comedy Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999). She made guest appearances on television and took on roles as the "mean girl" in low-budget feature films. Her first major role was in Steven Spielberg's biopic Catch Me If You Can (2002), but she was unemployed for a year afterwards. During a landing on Mars, astronauts collect soil samples that infect them with an alien substance when they return to Earth. The returned astronauts encounter accelerated pregnancies and give birth to human-alien hybrids. Meanwhile, scientists create a clone of Syl named Eve to study alien life. Ross, the astronaut commander, goes through a series of strange events and his body is subjected to alien instincts. The scientists activate Eve's telepathic link with Ross and direct her to track him. Eventually, a team of astronauts and scientists battle Ross and his hybrid descendants in an attempt to stop the spread of alien hybrids. The battle ends with Ross' death and Eve's rescue, however she turns out to be pregnant and her belly quickly swells.
