She had her own solo career in Germany during the 80s with songs like 'Call Me Tonight' and 'Don't Leave Me Now', before she became a member of Milli Vanilli with her twin sister Linda Rocco. Jodie appeared in many TV shows in Europe, won new artist of the year in 1984 in Germany, and in the same year, she also represented Germany in Tokyo, Japan, in the World Popular Song Festival, where she won second place with a song she co-wrote, 'Don't Break the Silence'. In 1988, while working in Frank Farian’s FAR Studios in Rosbach, Germany for another artist, Jodie Rocco and Linda Rocco were asked by Farian to do a couple of ‘ooh ooh ooh, I love you’s’ on just a drum track.
