Hurkel is a badger who appears in the third TV series and was unnamed in the books. He becomes the mate of Shadow shortly after she arrives at White Deer Park. Along with Shadow, Hurkel essentially takes the place of Badger, who had died in the previous series, becoming friends with Mossy. He also takes Badger's place as a Farthing Wood elder, straight up asking if he could be be one when he first met Fox (who was busy conducting a meeting). This request was granted due to Hurkel's compassion and integrity.
Hurkel has a very kind nature, and constantly tells the other animals about it. He always tries to find a peaceful solution to the animals' problems, but is more than willing to help his friends fight when necessary.
