We all know cheating is A Bad Thing, so it follows that we aren't supposed to side with the adulterer, right? In fiction, there are many reasons why someone who cheats might be portrayed sympathetically: Pay Cheating Unto Abuse, Unto Evil, Unto Absense... Exactly how many of these reasons actually are that sympathetic depends on how much the audience goes along with the writing; in most Real Life cases it would be pretty wretched to find out your partner was cheating on you just because you are boring/normal/not good in bed. But whatever the reason, if they cheat and are portrayed sympathetically then it fits the trope, making it fall more on the "Good" side of Good Adultery, Bad Adultery.
